An expressive example of Sonia Rykiel’s distinctly Parisian approach to fluid dressing, this mainline Sonia Rykiel silk dress combines relaxed draping with an architectural asymmetric silhouette. Made in France from 100% silk, the dress is rendered in a softly variegated palette of muted sage-gray, pale blue and washes of yellow, dramatically framed by contrasting black silk trim.
The sleeveless bodice is cut with generous volume, creating a softly bloused effect through the bust. A plunging V neckline is defined by broad black contrast trim that crosses diagonally over the front and continues downward through the skirt, visually elongating the silhouette. Adjustable tie details at the shoulders allow the silk to gather and drape naturally around the neckline.
An elasticized waist draws the otherwise fluid construction inward, creating definition without interrupting the relaxed movement of the silk. Below the waist, overlapping curved panels produce an asymmetric handkerchief-like effect, while the wide black border emphasizes the irregular hem and sculptural construction.
The reverse is intentionally simpler, allowing the watercolor-like tonal variation of the silk to take focus. Gathering across the shoulders and waist creates additional volume and movement.
